Basalt Pool Hall
Two connected pools — one at body temperature, one slightly warmer — with underwater bench seating and a view slit toward the quay wall.
Below the lodge, in the old stone cellar where ice once packed the day's catch, we built a bath house of basalt, slate, and filtered harbour water.
Our wellness floor follows a simple loop: warm pool, steam, cold plunge, rest. Heated basalt pools sit in the original cellar vaults, their surfaces level with the tide outside. Steam rooms are infused with dried kelp and coastal herbs harvested from the breakwater. Cold plunges draw filtered water that stays just above harbour temperature — brisk in winter, welcome after a summer run along the quay.
Between cycles, guests retire to the rest alcove with heated slate benches and wool wraps. Attendants circulate with chilled water and warm towels; speaking is optional, but quiet is expected.

Eucalyptus and kelp infusion on a fifteen-minute timer. Cedar benches and a cold water bucket for contrast.
Single-lane cold pool fed from filtered seawater. Three steps down, one breath, climb out warmed by the adjacent radiator wall.
Heated benches, herbal tea service, and a hourglass timer if you want structure without a schedule.
Overnight guests receive complimentary bath access for the length of their stay. Day passes are available for $38 and include a towel, locker, and one tea service. Children under 14 are welcome with a parent during family hours (weekends 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. only).
Bring a swimsuit if you prefer; the bath house also permits traditional wrap towels supplied at entry. Lockers use reversible brass keys collected at the desk upstairs.
Most guests finish with ten minutes in the rest alcove, then ascend to the Salt Line Kitchen for broth or citrus water at the bar. We recommend scheduling baths before dinner — the warmth lingers through the first course and pairs well with the lighter lunch menu if you visit midday.
Private bath sessions for two can be reserved for the Lantern Suite guests on request; the cellar hall closes to other visitors during that window. Email the harbour desk to arrange a time.
