Evenings at the quay
When the brass lanterns switch on and the tide turns, Brinehaven Quay shifts from working harbour to a small stage for music, conversation, and optional late-night entertainment.
Harbour culture
Evenings here are unhurried. The Buoy Bar stays open until eleven, folk musicians gather in the rope house on Thursdays, and guests often walk the lit quay with paper cups of spiced cider. We post a chalk board each afternoon listing that night's happenings — a poetry reading in the map room, a knot-tying workshop for children before dinner, or a lantern tour led by our night porter.
The harbour district draws visitors from across the region, including those passing through a well-known casino destination who prefer to sleep away from the floor lights. Brinehaven Quay offers that distance — ten minutes by tram, a world of timber and fog — while keeping the evening programme close at hand for those who want it.
Nothing on our schedule is mandatory. Many guests read by the window, soak in the baths, and turn in early. Others stay out until the last ferry horn. Both rhythms belong here.

The Anchor Room — optional 18+ gaming
Adults only (18+). Valid photo ID required at entry. Participation is entirely optional and never required for your stay at Brinehaven Quay.
The Anchor Room occupies a separate wing on the lower level, with its own entrance from the harbour lane — not from guest corridors. Registered overnight guests may request access at the desk; day visitors are not admitted. Inside you will find a modest floor of table games and card rooms, staffed by licensed attendants who enforce house limits and quiet conduct.
We do not offer real-money wagering online through this website or any app linked to the lodge. All play occurs in person, on site, under local regulations. Chips are purchased at the room counter; cash-out follows the same rules posted on the wall.
Hours are typically 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on weekends and 8:00 p.m. to midnight on weekdays, though the room may close early on quiet nights. Dress is casual; the same harbour-respect code applies as elsewhere in the building.
Guests who prefer to avoid gaming entirely never need to enter the Anchor Room. Sound insulation keeps table noise from reaching sleeping floors, and our night staff will direct you through alternate exits if you wish.
Planning your night
A common pattern: dinner in the Salt Line Kitchen, a walk under the buoys, perhaps an hour in the Buoy Bar, then either an early bath and bed or a registered visit to the Anchor Room. Trams to the central district run until 1:00 a.m.; taxis queue at the pier gate after midnight on weekends.
